The book represents a unique collection of “Afghan” stories based on the events that occurred during the Afghanistan War (1979-1989). The authors of these true stories — soldiers and officers, who later were classified in Russian literature as “Afghan authors”, directly participated in the military actions in different parts of Afghanistan. Their memoirs became a stepping stone for the emergence of a new kind of Russian literature — “Afghan prose”.
