ДИЛАН ТОМАС (1914–1953) — валлийский поэт, драматург, публицист. Важным источником его вдохновения были валлийский фольклор и мифология. «В благую ночь уйти не торопись…» Дилан Томас написал в 1951 году у постели умирающего отца за два года до своей смерти в возрасте 39 лет.
Стихотворение написано в форме классической вилланеллы (вилланель).
